A properly designed irrigation system takes the guesswork out of keeping your garden healthy through Melbourne's dry summers. We install irrigation as part of our landscaping projects, from simple drip systems for garden beds to comprehensive multi-zone setups with WiFi-enabled controllers.
Types of irrigation systems
Spray irrigation uses pop-up sprinkler heads to cover lawn areas. This is the most common choice for turf areas and provides even coverage when properly designed. The key is spacing the heads correctly so the spray patterns overlap and no dry spots are left.
Drip irrigation delivers water directly to the root zone of plants through a network of tubes with emitters. This is the most water-efficient method and is ideal for garden beds, hedges, and planter boxes. It uses significantly less water than spray systems and reduces evaporation losses.
Getting the zones right
Dividing your irrigation into zones allows different areas to receive the right amount of water at the right time. Lawns need different watering than garden beds, and shaded areas need less than full-sun areas.
Our biggest irrigation project involved 18 solenoid valves controlling separate zones across a large Werribee property, with over 4km of piping. Most suburban gardens require 4 to 8 zones for comprehensive coverage. Each zone is connected to a solenoid valve that opens and closes automatically based on the controller schedule.
WiFi-enabled controllers
We install WiFi-enabled irrigation controllers that let you manage your watering schedule from your phone. You can adjust watering times, skip cycles during rain, and monitor your system remotely. Some controllers even connect to weather stations and adjust watering automatically based on rainfall and temperature data.
The convenience of WiFi control is significant. Instead of walking out to a controller box mounted on the side of your house, you can manage everything from the couch or from work.

Get a Free QuoteCosts and maintenance
A professionally installed irrigation system in Melbourne typically costs between $2,000 and $8,000 depending on the size of the area, the number of zones, and the controller type. This includes the controller, solenoid valves, piping, fittings, and all installation labour.
Maintenance is minimal but important. Check the system each spring for leaks, blocked emitters, and misaligned sprinkler heads. Most issues are simple fixes that take a few minutes. We set up the system and walk you through the controller operation at handover so you are confident managing it yourself.
